When the Hotel George V was named after the British King George the Fifth, the avenue George V also most probably named after the same Monarch.

The Irish time shower is a CLOCK and not a watch. Even I thought the same when I saw this name ...Sir,
Even I thought the same when I saw this name George V first. But when we went there by the Metro Train this station's name was announced as George V (జార్జ్ వి) but not as George 5 as we thought. Later while traveling across the City of Paris I heard it so many times during my stay of 6 days there.

Thanks for your comment and for the sharing interesting piece of information.

ఈ ఐరిష్ ముంజేతి గడియారానికి మాత్రం అద్దం తప్పకుండా కావాలేమో..!!
ధన్యవాదాలు.రాధేశ్యామ్ రుద్రావఝలhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01248794219105604878noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3627815421028209940.post-17010453156609801302012-02-06T21:17:13.834+05:302012-02-06T21:17:13.834+05:30Very fine experiment in architecture. I had seen one Irish clock which has digits not the well known "clockwise"but anti clockwise and the clock also turns anti clockwise.

All this I suppose including the above French building has their roots in their trying to express their displeasure of British domination in almost every field.

Finally, the Street name may not be జార్జ్ వి but George-V (Roman figure for 5) and Ir I am wrong let me know.

Good effort Radhe Shyam.Saahitya Abhimaanihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17716782672309185693noreply@blogger.com
